Journey
Engaged naturopathic practitioner Renee at Zoe, April 2024 and the following was implemented:
· Stopped smoking
· Change in diet – low-GI Mediterranean-style diet with a big emphasis on fish as the main source of protein. No longer skips meals, ensuring lots of veggies (especially cruciferous) at every meal post breakfast. Limited refined sugar and process food intake.
· Continue to walk 1 hour daily with her dog Archie
· Implemented carefully prescribed herbal medicines, along with compounds, vitamins and minerals recommended by her naturopath who worked alongside the medical oncologist team – these compounds are known to be anti-cancer, chemo-toxic preventative, anti-inflammatory, cancer-cell death, antioxidant, stress-protection, healthy-cell-protection, enhance chemotherapy response properties and immune-boosting properties
June 2024 (Post one round of chemotherapy) – CA-125 tumour marker was 169, side effects from chemotherapy were minimal, did not require the anti-nausea medication prescribed, did not require conventional laxatives, despite catching a cold, bounced back within days post chemotherapy.
July 2024 - The only side effects from chemotherapy were intermittent pins and needles and numbness in hands and feet. No nausea, no acute illnesses, no nausea, no constipation. There was fluctuation anaemia, which was addressed with naturopath.
August 2024 – Blood test performed post three-rounds of chemotherapy) CA-125 tumour marker was 12, which is considered in normal range. Hysterectomy took place (most naturopath medicines halted), 1 night stay in hospital, and keyhole surgery was performed – all visible tumours were removed successfully. Client has no longer evidence of disease (NED).
No complications from the surgery, began blood thinning medication, developed an itchy rash on arms (naturopath prescribed a cream to address). Suppressed appetite.
One week later started chemotherapy, slight nausea, suppressed appetite, lowered energy, intermittent pins and needles, numbness in the hands and feet. Stopped blood thinning medication 3 days post chemotherapy, recommenced naturopathic herbal and compound remedies, appetite returned, energy increased and nausea stopped.
Currently - Client now has one more round of chemotherapy and is living an excellent quality of life with energy, minimal side effects and looking forward to their future, focusing on longevity.
